Highland Heather Scarf
Inspired by scenic Highland colours and a simple fair isle pattern.
Pattern notes
This pattern is suitable for confident beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and knitting terms. Skills used in this pattern: cast on, cast off, knit stitch, purl stitch, working with changes of colour. The scarf is knitted in the round with repeating rows of a simple fair isle pattern. Solid stripes combine with rows of v’s on a neutral background.
At the beginning and end of each round and when joining yarn be careful to maintain the tension for a neat finish. When breaking yarn and joining new yarn allow approx. 8cm for weaving in ends.

Stylecraft Yarn Highland Heathers DK.
Main yarn colour, approximately 340m (shale) Yarn A.
Contrast yarn colours approximately 55m each of the following: (thrift) Yarn B, (gorse) Yarn C, (wild salmon) Yarn D, (bracken) Yarn E, (heather) Yarn F, (thistle) Yarn G, (cairn) Yarn H, (loch) Yarn I.
Alternative yarn
Suitable for most DK weight yarns. Choose a neutral main colour and eight contrasting colours.
Knitting Needles
4.5 mm / US 7 circular knitting needle no more than 40cm / 16 ins long for working in the round.

Notions
Blunt tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Card or other materials of choice for making 35mm / 1.5 ins diameter pom poms.
