These are the matching mitts for the Hourglass Fall Headband. and the Hourglass Fall Boot Toppers. They, too, are the perfect accessory for those fall evening when you want a little something covering your hands but not full blown mittens. Made from sport weight yarn, it only takes 140 yd/128m to complete both mitts so is a perfect stash buster and would make a wonderful gift for all of your friends!

These mitts do not have a thunb gusset. Instead, a thumb opening is created by switching between circular knitting and flat knitting. Because these are not meant to be a cold weather accessory, this opening allows for a good fit, keeping the mitt in place without the need for complicated thumb shaping.

The hourglass cable is a unisex stitch pattern so works no matter who you knit for. Mitts meausre 8”/20 cm circumference around the palm unstretched but comfortably stretches to fit up to 11”/28 cm (thank you, dear husband!) and they are 8.5”/21 cm long but could easily be made longer or shorter by working more or fewer repeats of the 16 row pattern.

Gauge: 32 sts/38 r = 4”/10 cm in stockinette.
