Inishowen
I’ll tell you how the sun rose, a ribbon at a time. The steeples swam in amethyst, The news like squirrels ran. The hills untied their bonnets, The bobolinks begun. Then I said softly to myself, “That must have been the sun!
- Emily Dickinson
Inishowen is a pattern for a top down circular yoked cardigan. Stitches are cast on for the rib neckline (worked flat), short rows are worked for neck shaping, and steek is cast on and joined (with further neck shaping). Yoke chart worked for chosen size. Sleeve sts are separated from body sts. Underarm sts are cast on/picked up and each element is worked separately to the edge rib, before bind off. The steek is then prepared and cute before (or after) working button bands.
Inishowen is intended for an advanced knitter. The yoke and main motif are charted, however extrapolation of patterning, over the sleeve continuation and their shaping, is required. It is worked in the round with a steek and from the top down.
