Janus Beret
A perfect accessory for warmer weather, this slouchy, reversible lace beret features two distinct styles. The right side displays a distinctly ridged architectural look while the reverse side appears to be softly braided.
The brim flows smoothly into the body of the hat with invisible increases. The ribbed lace swirls to the center, ending in an i-cord tab. To make it completely reversible, the stitches on the reverse side are picked up to make a matching i-cord tab.
Since the body of this beret is loose and slouches, gauge is only critical to make the brim fit. One size is included based on the circumference of the ribbed brim. Adjusting gauge slightly or substituting the yarn can alter the fit.
The pattern includes a chart for the entire body of the hat as well as written directions for every row. Links for technique tutorials are included. Note that the majority of this pattern is knit with purls, purl decreases and twisted knits.
The sample was knit with 40g (less than one skein) of Tahki Donegal Tweed Fine. Yarn substitutions will yield a different fabric.
