This design was part of a special request from my daughter-in-law. She wanted a scarf (1) long enough to wrap around her neck twice and still hang to her waist (2) with more than one cable design and (3) fringe.. She’s almost 6’ tall so that meant a long scarf!

If you omit the fringe you will only need 5 skeins.

This design uses cable patterns with different row repeats. I used 2 counters to help me keep track of my work. One for the Right and Left Bobble Patterns and another for the Center Plait. Both Patterns reach a “logical stopping place” after 4 repeats of the Bobble patterns and 7 repeats of the Plait pattern or every 56 total rows.

The patterns are worked over 49 stitches. Edges are created using a chained slip stitch technique.

This creates a very warm, slightly bulky scarf. This pattern would work equally well with different weight yarn and smaller needle.

The length is easily adjustable. Just stop when it’s long enough to suit you!

This pattern has been updated so be sure to download v2 to get the corrected version. Thanks!

There is still a typo in row 9 of the Right Bobble written instructions. Extra words “first stitch of” and “last stitch of” should be ignored.
