Anna-Kajsa Pavval’s mittens highlight a common motif of the north – knitted flowers. She was a master of combining colors with these distinctive flowers. This pattern is based on a scrap of a mitten in Erika Nordvall Falck’s Sami mitten collection.

The knitter will need six different shades of fingering weight yarn, plus a couple yards of a seventh color. Besides common colorwork techniques, the knitter will need to know how to incorporate long floats and do duplicate stitch. In only one round will the knitter work three strands of yarn together. Braids and tassels finish off this northern beauty.
