Juhani-socks are a little tribute to Seitsemän veljestä (The Seven Brothers) novel by Aleksis Kivi, the national author of Finland. Juhani was the oldest of the brothers, bossy, stubborn and quick-tempered.

Juhani-socks have a textured stitch pattern and a heel wedge type heel which is worked both cuff down and toe up without picking up stitches. The pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be modified for double pointed needles.

100 g of fingering weight yarn, app. 420 m/ 459 yds per 100 g. The sample socks were knitted with Lana Grossa Meilenweit Tweed (80% Wool, 20% Nylon) in colourway 106 Natural.
