Kelland Wrap
The Kelland Wrap pairs a smoothly shifting gradient with a high-contrast solid to make a visually striking piece. Its repeating, easily memorized elements of texture and lace make it an engaging and relaxing knit — you’ll find yourself always wanting to work through “just one more color!”
Kelland’s long, trapezoidal shape lets it be wrapped a myriad of ways, and Marianated Yarns’ MCN blend yarn makes it block and drape beautifully.
This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions, in two separate PDFs.
HELPFUL: Photo tutorial for carrying yarns up the side.
Recommended Yarn:
Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT, Six Pack Perfection gradient set — 80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 800 yds to 200 g in total. Shown in Uncorked gradient.
Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT, one solid skein — 400 yds to 100 g. Shown in Spelunking.
Sizing:
93” (236 cm) along longest edge, 19.5” (49.5 cm) wide.
Gauge:
22 sts and 28 rows to 4” (10 cm) in lace pattern, strongly blocked.
PLEASE NOTE: To ensure you will have enough yarn to complete the gradient portions of the shawl, it is very important that you knit and strongly block a swatch, so as to determine your gauge (use solid color for swatching). Changes in gauge will affect finished size and amount of yarn used.
Needles:
US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, straight or circular (pointy tips recommended).
Other Materials:
Tracking tool if using charts, tapestry needle.
Many thanks to Marian of Marianated Yarns for her support! This pattern was tech edited by Lisa Beth Houchins and has also been test knit.
