La Marée
The Texas coast has a lot of history, particularly in Galveston. The story of the seawall construction after the devastating hurricane of 1900 is one of awesome determination. I named this shawl La Marée, meaning ‘the tide’, because the lovely lace pattern reminds me of the continuous waves seen on Stewart Beach in Galveston. The sand is brown, and you can always smell seaweed, but it is my favorite place to be.

This intermediate level pattern can be made using any gauge or yarn weight - just work until you are happy with the size (be sure to adjust your yarn requirements accordingly). It’s knitted from the top down, beginning with a garter stitch tab, and is worked only from charts.
