While you can certainly use one circular needle to knit this, I also had a pair of DPNs on hand for the i-cord.

The lace pattern is worked over six stitches; if you are using a heavier yarn you may want to cast on 54 or 48 stitches instead of 60. You will have to do a little math later on in the pattern though.
