Lady Jessica
A companion shawl to Alia, Lady Jessica is a sport weight shawl that is little snugglier than a fingering weight shawl while avoiding the weight of worsted.
Falling somewhere in between Alia and Atreides in complexity, Lady Jessica utilizes the same winged crescent construction as the other shawls in the Dune series. There is no work to be done in the lace on the wrong side rows, until you reach the lace trim, so once you have the hang of the lace motif it should be smooth sailing. The added interest in the trim moves this shawl into an intermediate skill set.
As with my other shawls, there are two size options; but instead of simply adding repeats to create a larger shawl I have enlarged the main lace motif and trim so that they have the same visual presence and balance as the smaller shawl.
The instructions are primarily written, with a chart option for the lace trim. You will need 10 stitch markers to complete this piece.
Lady Jessica is being released with a companion shawl, Alia. When I was designing Alia my goal was a simple shawl - but it kept trying to get more complicated. I finally gave up and made notes for the modifications and created the second shawl. If you like the look of this but wish it was a bit easier - check out Alia.
errata 5/22/2014
On Row 57 of the large version the 6th line of the row reads -
k2, YO, ssk, k1, YO, CDD, YO, k1,YO, k2tog, YO, k2, sm
the highlighted YO is an error and should not be knit. The pattern has been updated both here and in the Ebook option.
If you fancy both shawls you are in luck. Due to the similarities I have decided to make the patterns available in an “e-book” at a discounted price. So you get one of them half off, or you are only paying $4.50 for each depending on how you look at it! The “e-book” does not contain any additional information, simply both patterns in both sizes.
Pattern includes a link to the Twisted German Cast-on, so check that out if you are going to travel with the project. Link Here
