Ladybug & Bumblebee Flippy
Back when I made my Garden Gnome and Flower Pot Dolls, I came up with an idea for a reversible toy that would turn from a Bumblebee to a Ladybug and back. The idea partly came from the Bumblebee and Ladybug Tic-Tac-Toe pieces I had made by painting rocks. Unfortunately, though, the idea never came to light as I was having problems designing a toy that could easily flip inside out and still have the shape of a ladybug and bumblebee. However, when a friend of mine came to me and asked me to create a design for a new digital Amigurumi Crochet magazine called, Get Stuffed, I decided to pull this design back out of the archives and rework the pattern. I am now quite happy with how it has turned out and it will be published in Issue 6 of the Get Stuffed Magazine, as well as, for sale in my Ravelry shop.
This pattern can be worked in any size yarn with the appropriate size hook for the yarn. I went up a size in hook than what is typically used for the weight to keep my stitches looser so the toy can flip inside out easier. I worked it up in two sizes, one with worsted weight yarn and size H (5.0mm) hook, and I worked it up using Lion Brand’s Bonbons which are a Sport/Fine weight and an E (3.5mm) hook.
This pattern is written in American Standard
