Linen & Lace
Linen & Lace is a lightweight summer cardigan. However, it would work equally well as a Fall/Winter layering piece if made with wool/woolblend. The open front design can also be closed using your favorite shawl pin if you prefer.
An 18 st/16 row lace design is used along the bottom as a border and a single repeat is carried up each of the fronts.
Gentle A-line shaping creates a flatterning look for any figure. Elbow length Dolman sleeves are shapped by working increases along the sides as the fronts and back are worked in one piece to the sleeve openings.
Stitches are separated and the sleeve/back is worked straight in stockinette stitch which the sleeve/fronts continue the lace design and A-line shaping.
Shoulders are joined either by seaming, grafting or 3-needle bind off. Model used 3 needle bind off.
Stitches are picked up around the bottom of the sleeves and the lace pattern is repeated in a short cuff.
Stitches are also picked up along the front edge, across the back, and down the other front edge and a narrow garter stitch border finishes the neckline.
