This gorgeous knitted heirloom makes a great gift for a newborn baby. The Lovelicious Hap is an emotional creation that links the past with the present. This patterned hap is my gift to our close friend’s baby who will surely be a world traveller already at her early age introducing and showing off this beautiful knitted hap.

The Lovelicious Hap comes in three sizes and is worked seamlessly. This beautiful eye catcher is knitted from the center outwards, using the traditional square shape, with a center panel in a simple squishy garter stitch. The square is worked from one point of the diamond to the opposite point (knitted diagonally back and forth). You start by increasing the first half and then you decrease for the second half. After that stitches are picked up around the edges and a fluttering lace border is worked outwards from the center square. Finally a garter stitch lace border edging is worked sideways and attached to the lace body by means of simple decreases and slipped stitches. The shawl is being bound off this way.

Three sizes are provided: L, M and S.
Size: L (M)
L - approx 57.5“ x 57.5“ (147cm x 147cm) square;
M – approx 52“ x 52“ (133cm x x133cm) square;
Needles
Verison 1 is knitted with: US 7 (4.5mm) 60cm/24“ and 100cm/40“ or longer circular needle for working Fluttering Lace Border (Part 2) and Lace Edging (Part 3) and DPNs for the border (optional)
Version 2 is knitted with US 6 (4.00mm) 100cm/40“ circular needle.

Gauge
L version: 16 stitches and 14 ridges (28 rows) per 4 x 4 inches / 10cm x 10cm in Garter Sitch, on US 7 (4.5mm) needle, relaxed after lace-blocking
M version: 17 stitches and 16 ridges (32 rows) per 4 x 4 inches / 10cm x 10cm in Garter Stitch, on US 6 (4.00mm) circular needle, relaxed after lace-blocking.
Gauge is not crucial in this pattern, but differences may significantly affect yarn quantities and finished size.
