Lulu the Pixie
Lulu the Pixie is an amigurumi (crochet) pattern for intermediate crocheters. The pattern is written in English using US terms and my finished Lulu measures 19cm (7 1/2 inches) tall. Your crochet tension, yarn and hook size used will determine the size of your finished item.
Materials:
2.5m hook/C-2 (US)
4ply yarn/fingering
Less than 50g yarn in NUDE, APRICOT, PLUM, BLUE and PINK
6mm safety eyes
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Polyester toy stuffing
Stitch marker
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
MR = magic ring
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
inc = single crochet increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
sl st = slip stitch
BLO = back loops only
(..) = repeat the space in brackets the given number of times
.. = total number of stitches
Notes:
A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton or cotton blend.
Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise).
For this pattern, the following yarns were used:
o NUDE = King Cole Giza Cotton 4ply in “2191 Cream”
o APRICOT = Scheepjes Catona in “255 Shell”
o PLUM King Cole Giza Cotton 4ply in “2421 Boysenberry”
o BLUE = King Cole Giza Cotton 4ply in “2198 Bluebell”
o PINK = Bendigo Woollen Mills 4ply cotton in “805 Pink Rose”
I crochet loosely and use a 2.5mm hook with 4ply yarn. Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight to keep stuffing from showing and for any attachments to stay in place.
The yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of the finished item. My Lulu the Pixie is approximately 19cm tall (7 ½ inches).
I have used safety eyes for this pattern but you may embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
