This Mermaid Pencil Topper is fun to make and any color combination can be used. You need basic crochet and knitting skills to complete this project. The head and body portion is knitted and the arms and bikini top is done by crochet. This project is worked flat and then finished off with mattress stitch and/or whip stitch method. The gauge isn’t important as long as you can fit the puppet onto your pencil.

Supplies Needed:
• Worsted weight yarn in the colors of your choice
• Knitting Needles size 6
• Stuffing
• Fabric glue
• Google eyes
• Crochet hook size E or preferred size
• Finishing Needle
• Embroidery Needle
• Small amount of felt in pink or red for lips
• DMC floss or thread in pink or red
• Stitch holder or scrap yarn

FO: finish off
Co: cast on
K: knit
P: Purl
Kfb: knit in front and back of stitch to increase
K2tog: knit 2 sts together
Ss: slip stitch
Sts: stitches
2Hdc: 2 half double crochet stitches in same space
