This design was created using Done Roving DK Gradient Builds. You could probably use different yarn but why would you want to? The experts at Done Roving provide the exact yardage and the perfect color combinations. No need to struggle with yarn color choices, they do the hard work for you!

Using a 2-color slip stitch pattern, this scarf is perfect for the anyone interested in trying their hand at color work. Because you work with only one color at a time the design looks much more complicated than it really is.

The scarf is knit in one piece either from short edge to short edge or long edge to long edge. You decide if you prefer to cast on a lot of stitches and work a few rows or cast on a few stitches and work a lot of rows.

Simple Stripe version begins with a cast on of 285 stitches and stripes with each new skein added.
Fade Craze begins with a cast on of 35 stitches and uses the fade technique to transition between skeins.

But this is the simple scarf that dreams of being more! So both versions are finished with a border created by picking up stitches first along the short edges then along the long edges. I have given specific instructions to help you evenly space those stitches on the long edges. The border has loops every 10 stitches (created by working a double yarn over on row one and working a kpkp in the yarn over’s on the following row). Remaining main color yarns are used to make I-cords. These cords are used to weave though the loops and join the scarf into an unlimited number of interesting shapes which make the scarf take on the appearance of a cowl or shoulder wrap. Not a fan of I-cord? No problem, ribbon or purchased cord will work just a well!
