Meteorologist's Dream
Welcome to A Meteorologist’s Dream
This blanket came to me as an idea very late at night, which meant I had to stay up until I had sketched all the ideas. I loved the idea of bringing together all of the weather types in one place. Once I had decided on each of my sections I reached out to my Facebook group for inspiration. I wanted lots of photos of skies so that I could come up with the colours of the blanket and each section. If you are part of my group (link on my Ravelry pages) then please take the time to have a search through the original post and appreciate the beautiful photography skills: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1815138551873821/permalink/3383996268321367
This blanket took me 3 weeks of non-stop crochet, maybe 100+hours to finish and it’s one of my favourite pieces. So I hope you can all enjoy as much as I did.
The concept of the blanket is a background of a giant sunset with rays extending from the centre to the very edges. Then 6 separate weather elements in the foreground of the blanket. The colours I chose for my personal blanket was pinks, purples and greys with the highlight of brilliant blues.
Yarn requirements are included in a table in the images.
What you will need for King Bed blanket 190cm width x 200cm length (6’4’’ x 6’6’’ or (76’’ x 78’’)
• I always recommend Stylecraft Special DK for this as I love the vibrancy of the colours and the yarn is a lovely texture and easy to work with
• 4mm - 4.5mm hook
• Tapestry needle for ends
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
There will be two variations to the blanket offered. One will be an extension to the length of the blanket which is in a separate file on this page in Ravelry. The second is the option to create a temperature blanket from the blanket pattern. A temperature blanket is where the colour yarn for a given row on a blanket represents the temperature of the relevant day. This variation will be available for sale as a separate design on Ravelry to complement this main pattern (to be released by the end of October 2020)
This blanket will also be offered as a free CAL starting in January 2021 on my facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1815138551873821 Please note that the Temperature Blanket variation is only available for sale, and if you are doing the free CAL you will still need to purchase the temperature blanket extension pattern here.
