In Michigan, one needs an extra bit of warmth for the chilly days. These “text”-ured and subtly-shaped mitts keep the hands snug, while the fingers are free to send off text messages. The Mitts work up fairly quickly using Medium Weight yarn.

The cuffs are worked in slip stitch ribbing rows, and from there the mitts are worked in spiral rounds. The thumbs are worked in joined rounds.

The difference between the men’s and women’s mitts is dependent on the hook size. (And if you want to make smaller sizes, use DK/Sport Weight yarn and smaller hooks.)

The gauge for the men’s mitts: 8 FPdc & 6 rows = 2”

One can generally get a pair of mitts out of one skein of yarn.
