Mountain Song
“And he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine-trees and the waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking-stick.” J.R.R. Tolkein, The Hobbit.
Mountains, tall and watchful, immovable and majestic, were the inspiration behind sweater. From the red Diablo Range ringing San Fransisco to the resonant mountain song that inspired a hobbit to go adventuring, this sweater embodies their strength and grace. A ring of peaks circle the yoke. And like the reflection of a mountain on a lake in the valley, those peaks double down, pointing toward the body.
This mountain motif is knit in simple 1/1 cables, easy to cross without a cable needle for faster working. The cropped body has optional shaping to hug your waist for a flattering silhouette with long and 3/4-length sleeve options. Like the silhouette of a mountain against a darkening sky, the sweater is simple yet stunning.
