The most oft-requested and popular “everyone remembers these” pattern in the DBKN collection. Even though there are numerous iterations of this style that has been around “forever”, I was asked countless times for written instructions so finally wrote up the version I remember my grandmother making for us when we were kids.

Clarification: the total slipper length should end up being 1/2” less than total foot length, in other words, whatever combination of garter st portion & ribbed toe portion should come out to 1/2” less than total foot length. For example, for a 7” foot the garter st portion could be worked to 4.5” and then the ribbed toe portion for 2” which would equal 6.5” before finishing off the toe (in my case, I have a 9” foot so would work 6” of garter st and 2.5” of ribbing for a total length of 8.5” before finishing off the toe.)
