Newtown
Newtown is a cushy garter and cable scarf that can be worn in a variety of styles. It’s a quick knit, and would also be a good first cable knitting project. It is also reversible in the sense that I love how the reverse side looks as well!
This scarf is named after the town I grew up in. Outside my parents house there is a birch tree that turns the loveliest shade of golden yellow in the fall, and the yarn I used for the short size of this sample reminds me of that tree.
Newtown is a friendly little town full of little shops and parks – this scarf is one I would wear on a fall day to a festival in town or to a Fall picnic while the leaves are turning!
Make your Newtown scarf for the Fall lover in your life, or for yourself! Then take it for a nice walk in the park!
It is knit with 2 strands of dk/light worsted weight held double, but 1 strand of a #5 bulky weight yarn could be substituted (and then only half the yardage would be needed). The pattern calculates yardage for those who would like to use #5 yarn instead.
This pattern has been tested for both clarity and accuracy.
Yarns used during testing include:
