On a visit to the Hoxa Tapestry Gallery, in Orkney, I bought some cards. One being the ‘Echoes of Hamnavoe’, pictured below. Nighthawk was one of the few colours of yarn from Jamieson’s of Shetland that I hadn’t used yet. So, I experimented with other toning colours, ending up with this colourway.
