NOLACE baby blanket
Nolace is a highly textured baby blanket that knits up quickly in bulky yarn with big needles. The main color uses 4 skeins of WOTA Superwash Bulky, and the contrasting stripe uses 1 skein.
If you pick a soft, washable wool or wool-blend (e.g. WOTA superwash bulky) this will be your squishiest blanket ever! This blanket has absolutely no lace (o.k., you win - there’s a few YO’s at the corners). Anyway, it’s lovely and cozy, and just perfect for any babies on your gift list.
The center section is a checkerboard of short cables and reverse stockinette; worked back and forth and then bound-off.
The border (slip-stitch tweed pattern) is picked up around the entire edge and is worked in the round. A long circular cable (mine was 60”) is needed for this section.
The size of the finished blanket is determined by the size of the center cable section, and is definitely knitter’s choice. The gray Nolace blanket finished up at 31” x 31”.
