Celebrate Christmas with this Nativity scene, the perfect make to bring joy to your home each festive season. With yarn, stuffing and needles, you will only require a few little extras from your craft stash to bring this set to life.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, most pieces in the set are knitted on single pointed needles (not in the round). Two DPNs are used to knit i-cord tubes for the noses and arms, and a crochet hook to attach the donkey’s mane. This set was worked in acrylic 4 ply yarns, although you can use DK (double knitting/light worsted) on larger needles if you prefer.

NEEDLES
A pair each of 2.5mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 1.5).

RECOMMENDED YARN
Patons Baby Smiles Fairytale Fab 4 Ply; Fine-2/fingering weight; 100% acrylic; a 50g skein in each colour.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, domed buttons for eyes, black embroidery thread, cardboard, bamboo skewers, stitch markers, florist’s wire, glue and double sided tape.

SIZES
One size only - Each large doll is 12cm tall, the donkey is 9cm tall (including ears) x 9cm long, sheep is 8.5cm tall x 8.5cm long, Jesus doll is 6.5cm long, manger is 7cm long x 3cm tall, and the star (including tassel tail) is 14cm long.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish. The headscarves, donkey’s body and Jesus’s blanket are finished with Kitchener stitch. If you are not familiar with this technique, instead you could cast off as normal, fold the finished edge in half and seam together (although note this will not be as neat as Kitchener grafting).
