Pastel Tweed Baby Blanket
The colourwork here looks quite complicated, but it’s easier than it seems. There’s no stranding; you just work each row in one of three colours in sequence. The tweed effect is created because of the way yarns loop around each other in knit and purl stitches. A beginning knitter can make this blanket with little difficulty--if you can cast on, cast off, knit and purl, you can make this blanket. Use three closely related shades of neutrals to create a more subtle design, or colours with even more contrast to create a bright, exciting design.
My Staggered Stripes Scarf pattern is based on the same principle, but creates stripes rather than a textured tweed effect.
