This cardigan evolved after I had published my “Get the Picture” hat featuring the same stitch, resulting in a lot of inquiries for sweaters from people who were fond of the stitch pattern (as far as I remember, I think I must have found this stitch pattern on one of those free-stitch-pattern-websites, but I am not 100% sure any more). Subsequently, I decided to make one for myself to see how this would work out.

I wanted it to be a simple, classic open cardigan with raglan sleeves and pockets hidden within the hem - something comfortable and wearable made from beautiful yarn, the kind of sweater you can slip into when you go for a walk in the park with your kids - but at the same time, unique enough so you won’t be lost in the crowd if the kids come looking for you.

And that was how the adult sized “Petrichor” came to life.
This cardigan is knit top down, absolutely seamlessly (even the pockets are joined to the hem as you work them up), with extra waist shaping on the back.
To make it easier to knit, all raglan increases are charted for all sizes.

Petrichor was designed in collaboration with Julie Asselin Yarn.

Materials:

• Julie Asselin Hektos (75% Merino, 15% Cashmere, 10% Silk) or Julie Asselin Leizu Worsted (90% Merino, 10% Silk): 115g/ 200 yards (183 meters) 6 (7, 7, [8, 8], 9, 10) skeins or approx. 1150 (1250, 1360, [1480, 1600], 1730, 1860) yards [1052 (1143, 1244, [1353, 1463], 1582, 1700) meters] of Worsted weight yarn that knits up to gauge. The sample is knit in colorway “Elephant”.
• US 6 – 4 mm 24” (60 cm) & 40” (100 cm) circular needles or DPNs
• US 8 – 5 mm 24” (60 cm) & 40” (100 cm) circular needles or DPNs
• 2 stitch markers in one color (A)
• 4 stitch markers in a second color (B)
• Two US 6 – 4 mm DPNs
• Stitch holder or scrap yarn

Sizes:
XS (S, M, M1, L, XL, 2X)
To fit: 32 (34, 36, [38, 40], 44, 48)“
81 (86, 91.5, [96.5, 101.5], 111.5, 122) cm bust circumference.
The cardigan is meant to be worn with zero to a small amount of positive ease.

Gauge:
19 sts and 24 rows per 4” 10 cm in Stockinette stitch with larger needles after blocking.
