The Picnic by the River Blanket was designed for ‘Little Box of Crochet’ by Eleonora Tully for their first crochet along in April 2021.

This blanket is made using a combination of crochet techniques. The pattern starts with the central square which is crocheted using Tunisian Entrelac to create the checked picnic blanket pattern. Traditional crochet stitches are crocheted around this square to create a large central square. Smaller squares are then crocheted, joined together and attached to the central square. These are crocheted around before further smaller squares are crocheted and joined. A border is crocheted around the entire blanket.

The finished blanket measures approximately 115cm x 115cm (45.5in x 45.5in) using 11 x 100g balls of Stylecraft Special DK yarn.
