Pumarada is a crescent shaped shawl with a very simple and delicate lace pattern (perfect for beginners). You can make it with any weight yarn, from fingering to worsted, without changing needle size – it will only affect how see-through the final material is.

The word Pumarada means apple orchard in the region of northern Spain where I’m from.

This is a very simple shawl and I’ve included links to videotutorials for the techniques you will need and all the stitches used in the pattern, as well as the picot bind off.

MATERIALS
• 6 mm (US10) circular needles, 80 cm (32”) long. It’s also possible to use straight needles.
• 2 markers

YARN
400 m (437 yards) fingering weight yarn. I used Purl & Poem, in the Pink blossom falling on you colourway (70% baby alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere), 400 m per 100 g.
I also did a version in worsted weight yarn using Malabrigo Rios in the Paris Night colourway. I used 460 m (240 g). Navy blue shawl in the photos.

GAUGE
16 stitches and 22 rows in 10 cm (4”) in stockinette stitch after blocking.

Gauge is not important for this shawl but it can affect the final dimensions or amount of yarn you need.

DIMENSIONS
After blocking, approximately 180 cm (71”) wide x 52 cm (20.5”) deep.

El chal Pumarada es un chal en forma de media luna con un calado muy sencillo (perfecto para principiantes) y delicado. Se puede hacer con cualquier grosor de lana, desde fingering hasta worsted sin cambiar de aguja – simplemente afectará lo transparente que quede.

La palabra Pumarada es una finca de manzanos en la región de Asturias, de donde soy.

Es un patrón muy, muy sencillo y he incluido enlaces a videotutoriales de todas las técnicas y puntos que necesitas para hacer el chal.

LANA
400 m de lana de grosor fingering. Yo usé Purl & Poem, color Pink blossom falling on you (70% baby alpaca, 20% seda, 10% cachemira), 400 m por 100 g.
También he hecho una versión con grosor worsted, en Malabrigo Rios y he usado 460 m (240 g) sin cambiar el número de agujas. El chal azul marino en las fotos.

MUESTRA DE TENSIÓN
14 puntos y 22 vueltas en 10 cm en punto jersey, después de bloquear.

La tensión no es demasiado importante en este patrón, pero puede afectar la cantidad de lana que necesites.

DIMENSIONES
Después de bloquear, aproximadamente 180 cm de ancho x 52 cm de largo. Ver esquema en la última página.
