Rasa
Rasa means dew in Latvian and the shawl is inspired by a low growing, understated plant - lady’s mantle. In direct translation from Latvian this plant’s name reads as “dew seat” or “dew throne”, and the plant stands so well for this poetic name. The little pearls of morning dew glowing on the gently corrugated leaves and trickling down in perfect strings of beads to accumulate in the center of the leaf, when touched. It’s a soft tribute for this humble and magical plant that holds the beauty of summer mornings and gives early morning dew its own, well deserved throne before the sun dries it all away.
Rasa is such an easy and light project. It is knit in bias with a soothing texture and a lace border. Body of the shawl is shaped with regular spaced increases and decreases to create a lightly slanting crescent shape. Lace border is worked in contrasting colour in mohair laceweight yarn held double. The border is formed as an extension from the existing live stitches at the end of main body and by picking up the stitches along the left edge of the shawl.
The pattern includes full written instructions, is also fully charted and includes stitch count checklists for easy reference.
The pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knitted.
