Remugient
I love patterns that look like they took more effort than they actually required. This shawlette uses the bunching characteristic of a single special stitch to play with color dominance while knitting simple stripes.
You will execute the stitch in one color which causes the other color to fade into the background. Then you work a stripe of stockinette which changes things up and results in switching the color dominance in the next panel. As the stripes fan out across the shawl, the colors switch back and forth, but you are simply knitting more stripes! And what looks like a fancy picot bind-off is just how a stretchy technique combines with this special stitch—it’s magic!
If you would like to see a tutorial on this special stitch and learn more about both this pattern and the collection patterns, check out this video on my YouTube channel Watch Barbara Knit.
