Difficulty level: Medium. Charts only and you will be asked to work WS rows in pattern. However, written explanations are provided for the rows containing more than purl sts.

Recommended yarn: 100g Zitron Filisilk (70% merino, 30% silk) 656 yards (600m)/100g.

Beads: Size 8 beads: 252 beads for the first beaded section, 552 beads for the second and 178 beads for the edge. In all 982 beads. Beads can be left out, or you can choose to bead only one or two sections as you wish.

Size after blocking: 20’’ deep and inner circle is 55’’ (50 cm deep and inner circle is 140 cm).

Needles: US 4 (3,5 mm) circular needles. Use the needle size that gives you the fabric you like. Swatching is recommended.

Crochet hook: US size C (3mm) for binding off.

Construction:The shawl is knit in one piece from the neck and out. Stitches are increased according to the charts, and it is bound off with a very simple crochet chain BO.

Notice! Crochet is used to bind off the shawl! There are really good YouTube videos on how to do this if you are in doubt. Search for “crochet picot bind off” and for instance this video pops up.

The 3/5 stitch has been giving people some trouble. The stitch is worked over 3 sts, so the same 3 sts are knit tog 3 times, with yo in between. k3tog (leave sts on left needle), yo, k same 3 sts tog, yo, k same 3 sts tog and then you release the 3 sts from the left needle. Hope this helps!

I did mention beads, didn’t I? I admit it, I went a little over the edge with this one. You’ll have 3 different sections that have suggestions for beading in the pattern. One section with 252 beads. One with 552 beads. And one with 178 beads. In all almost 1000 beads. Do one, or all, or none as you please.

One small fix is needed for next update:

Row G16, written instructions it says to ”p5, (k18, p7) repeat () across” - you will need to end the row with p5.
