Alternating pretzels break up the monotony of traditional 2 x 2 rib with a variation of the pattern continued down onto the heel.

Although only one size is given it would fit a foot circumference from 6.5” to 9” due the elastic nature of the pattern.

An experienced knitter could add a further 8 stitches by inserting two additional purl stitches to each pattern repeat, adjusting shaping accordingly. These instructions are not explicitly given in the pattern.

Note: stitches are decreased at the end of the heel flap before shaping the heel and again before shaping the toe and are incorporated into the charts. Please follow the pattern carefully to avoid confusion. (Nov 2017)
