This ribbed button cowl and matching slouchy beanie are made with bulky weight (size 5) yarn and a large crochet hook (Size P-11.5 mm). The large hook makes this a quick project.

The stitches used are chain, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet. Working in the back loops of the previous row gives the fabric a ribbed look. The cowl is worked flat and the beanie is worked in the round.

The yarn used in this project is Homespun by Lion Brand. A double strand of worsted weight yarn could also be used.

Please note that the size P hook is 11.5 mm, NOT the 10 mm size listed by Ravelry. It can be purchased at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and at some Joann stores.
