The Rusted Roof Shawl combines mosaic knitting with cushy garter stitch stripes.
In mosaic knitting rows are worked in pairs, two rows using the same color. The first row work as indicated in the pattern. On the second row, using the same color, you knit the same sts you knit in the previous row, and slip the same sts you slipped.
Choose two colors of yarn with lots of contrast for best results.
