Sadie is a long, narrow scarf that measures 3” wide and 60” long because it was designed to use all 2 skeins of Koigu KPPPM. But any variegated sock or fingering yarn may be used--just check your gauge and yarn yardage.

It is worked with chains and a fan stitch using extended double crochets. Easy to do. When this pattern was written in 2005, not many crocheters were aware of this stitch unless they were fans of Elmore.

Rows are crocheted off a central chain. The tricky part is in filling out the scarf ends--here you have to have some knowledge of how crochet stitches can shape a slope. Directions are given so you can adjust to your liking.

Also new in 2005 was the addition of beads on/in scarves. Here, they are sewn on afterwards. They help weigh down the ends and add sparkle. How many are up to you. Enjoy.
