This scarf is knit in two pieces and then knit together with a three-needle bind-off. The originals were knit in one piece end-to-end, but I wanted to change the design, and allow my lace to look the same on both ends. The ribbing along the neck allows the scarf to fit better around the neck, and keep you warmer. These scarves sere popular with mariners in history,, hence the name.
