ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Saksa bonnet is both crocheted and knitted. Start by crocheting granny squares, then crochet them together, then knit ribs
around the neck and face opening.
Finally, work the straps in double knitting.
SIZES
One Size.
Head circumference: 55 - 59 cm
YARN AND MATERIALS
80 g of Merino Essentiel 4 from DMC (50 g = 125 m)
48 g of NAVY n°852
32 g of LAVENDER BLUE n° 884
Circular needles 4 mm 80 cm
Crochet hook 4 mm
Double pointed needles 4 mm optional, double-pointed needles are used for knitting straps; if you don’t have any, you can use
4 mm circular needles.
Tapestry needle
GAUGE
Gauge: 22 sts x 28 rows =10 x 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch, on needle size 4 mm.
Make a swatch to achieve the same gauge as indicated above. Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on
10 cm = 4”, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a smaller needle size.
