Pattern is loaded with photos and totally complete in the last file available (most recent) as this was for a KAL.
All the charts line up and the pattern simply flows from one to the next getting large, morphing, changing and going into a still larger shape. All our reminiscent of the hourglass. Follow the lines right up the shawl. Notice the pattern has no breaks.
You can make a real fashion statement with this shawl since it’s fully shaped you could put it on and it would stay there. You could add buttons down the front for more of a cape and it wouldn’t have any problems due to all the shoulder shaping that goes into it… as you can see from the front photo where we used a ball and chain assembly to keep the neck shut.
Sands yarn: 1500-1600 yards of a fingering weight yarn. Test size 5 & 6 needles to see what you prefer, I used a 6 as my hand spun yarn was a heavy fingering almost sport weight yarn. On a 5 size needle you don’t have to worry about the size as it’s large. Or your could stash dive 4 skeins of sock in 4 different solid colors, then make a striped shawl at 1600 yards. If you choose this option and don’t know how to make a gradient color change I will be there to help you. An example would be my favorite colors are purple, blue and green,,, these are next to one another on the color wheel and work for Meldy or striped. I would then make them similar… IE; all light, medium or all dark. I will need all that information from you when you order. Say you want pink, yellow and orange,,,, those are close to one another and would look smashing in lights. Remember the photo of my center pull Peacock bat? We can go in three of those colors. Up to you, I will dye whatever you please. Or send me a photo to work off of I LOVE doing that for you.
See blog for color inspiration, yarn photos. The colors are Royal Meldy Deep with blips of turquoise and Sand colors with blips of Orange and red, just like the hourglass photo. You all know me and themes. Contact me if you have further questions or need help with your order.

A little background on how this KAL came about - Ok so have I got a story to tell! I scored this Loop batt and spun it up the week I got it in. I core spun around a fine lace weight and ended up with a fingering yarn, it has 16 WPI. The Batt made a long strand color change due to the center pull Loop doing all the work.
What happened next was totally unexpected. I designed a shawl around the yarn. You do not have to spin your own yarn to work this shawl though. We will KAL it over the summer months and the pattern will be distributed here. This pattern is a full Faroese shawl with shoulder shaping which contains both cables and lace.
