• The techniques you will need to know include chain, single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet increase, invisible decrease, working in the front and back loop only, bobble stitch, the invisible finish, and the adjustable (magic) ring.

MATERIALS NEEDED (more specifics are noted within the pattern)

• yarn in your choice of colors (about 70-84 yds/64-77 m of worsted/aran)
• a size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• stitch markers
• tapestry needle
• stuffing
• pins
• scissors
• safety eyes
• chopstick to help stuff
• something to color cheeks (blush, crayon, pastels, etc.) (optional)
• ornament hanger (ribbon, yarn, metal, etc.) (optional)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

• Using hook size E/4 (3.5 mm) and worsted yarn the Santa Claus Ornament measures approximately 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) tall with the hat bent to the side and reaching to the bottom of the beard.
• Using hook size 1.5 mm and size 10 crochet thread the Santa Claus Ornament measures approximately 2 inches (5.1 cm) tall with the hat bent to the side and reaching to the bottom of the beard.
