Santa's Grotto Finger Puppets
Using a basic pattern and the addition of colour-work and embroidery, you can create a set of eight colourful Christmas character finger puppets from Santa’s Grotto.
Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the puppets are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The DPNs are used to knit i-cord pieces for the arms and reindeer antlers. The crochet hook is used to crochet a single chain for the collars, and to attach Santa’s beard.
NEEDLES
A pair each of 3.25mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 3)
RECOMMENDED YARN
Deramores Studio Anti-Pilling DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; One 100g/250m skein in each colour
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, beads for eyes, and a 3.25mm crochet hook.
SIZES
One size only - Each puppet is approximately 10cm tall (without hats).
TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and seaming to finish.
