Shallow Waters Mittens
About the pattern
‘Shallow Waters’ are classic mittens with a folded ribbed cuff for extra warmth. They are decorated with mosaic (slip stitch) colorwork print, that resembles gentle ripples on the surface of a pond, which gave the hat its name.
The mittens are worked in the round from the cuff up, featuring Indian thumb gusset (increases for the palm, not the thumb), the thumb stitches are then placed on hold and finished last, as per usual.
These mittens are part of a collection, including a beanie and 2 shawl options: top-down triangular shawl and rectangular stole.
YARN:
Sport weight yarn (~250-300m/ 275-330yds per 100g/3.5oz) with high wool content. Recommend choosing yarns with little halo in solid/ tonal color to best show off the print.
