Shelob
“Weaving webs of shadow; for all living things were her food, and her vomit darkness.”
J. R. R. Tolkien
The Two Towers
The lace stitch on this work is from Barbra Walker’s Spider stitch- and the name is from the giant spider Shelob from The Lord Of The Rings.
Thank you to Amanda at Brutally Beautiful Photography for the photos
and to Nomi Chi for modelling.
This work is one size fits many- In the photos I am wearing it and I am a size large and 6 feet tall, and the other model is just over 5 feet tall and a size small.
If you want to make it larger:
Cast on 53 stitches (rather than 47) and place markers after your 5th and 48th stitches. Work the pattern repeat (rows 1-12) one or two extra times. Each pattern repeat adds 3.5” in length. If you have any questions or concerns on making this larger or smaller please message me!
