After this long cold winter isn’t it time to let the light Shine Through!!!

Shine Through is an asymmetric sail-shaped shawl that is worked sideways on the bias. Knit in relaxing garter stitch sections to produce a light and airy effect. An easy slip stitch pattern is layered over a fluffy mohair stockinette creating semi-transparent windows to let light Shine Through.

Don’t care for Mohair??? Swap it to an alpaca based yarn like I did. The Suri Silk is heavenly soft and will give a warmer shawl. Ok, so you don’t really like the furry yarns? Just grab a laceweight and cast on this beautiful Springtime shawl!

Shawl #2 (blues to black)

• Left Coast DyeWorks Grafeetie (75% Superwash Merino/25% nylon, 462yards/100grams) Main Color: OOAK, 380 yards

• Left Coast DyeWorks Kiddo (70% Kid Mohair/30% nylon, 440yards/45grams) Coordinating Color: Grandma Wallpaper, 340 yards

Shawl #2 (All Blues)

• Spun Right Round Classic Sock (100% Superwash Merino, 438/100grams) Main Color: The Water’s Fine, 380 yards

• Spun Right Round Suri Silk (74% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Silk 328 yds/50grams) Coordinating Color: Labyrinth, 340 yards

Needles: US 5/3.75mm 32” circular needles & one US 6/4mm for cast on and bind off

Notions: Stitch Markers, T-pins and blocking wires for blocking

Gauge: 21 stitches = 4 inches in Garter Stitch after blocking. Although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.

Finished size: 22” deep x 76” tip to tip after blocking.
