Shortie Slippers & Faeroe Slipper Socks
This pattern is really 2 patterns – Shortie Slippers and Faeroe Slipper Socks, both from the Winter 2004 issue of my Heels & Toes Gazette, re-released as a single pattern, for your continued enjoyment (as the Gazette is out of publication.)
Specs for Shortie Slippers:
Woman’s Small / Medium / Large
Finished Dimensions
Foot Circ: 8.5 / 9.25 / 9.75”
Length Heel to Toe: 9.5 / 10.25 / 11.25”
Length Floor to Rolled Cuff Top: 3.25 / 3.5 / 3.5”
Materials
Size Small: Heirloom Breeze 8 ply, 30% wool / 69.6% cotton / .4% lycra, 105 yds / 50 gram balls: 4 / 4 / 5 balls #19 musk pink (MC) and 1 / 2 / 2 balls #14 mustard green (CC)
Notes: 1) 4 strands yarn are held together. 2) 5 / 5 / 6 balls are needed, if worked all in one color.
Size Medium: Plymouth Yarns Alpaca Boucle, 90% alpaca / 10% nylon, 70 yds / 50 gram balls: 3 / 3 / 4 balls #15 grey tweed (MC) and 1 ball #20 turquoise / purple tweed (CC)
Notes: 1) 2 strands are held together. 2) 4 / 4 / 5 balls are needed, if worked all in one color.
Size Large: Helvetia Shepherds 2-ply, approx 200 yds / 4 oz hanks, 2 hanks natural charcoal
Note: 2 strands are held together.

- 16” US size 9 ckn - optional
- K1C2 Rainbow Elastic, 1 mm or 3 mm size, in color to match slipper body
- Tapestry ndl
Gauge
14 sts and 20 rows = 4” (10 cm) over St st with size 9 ndls, or size to give gauge.
Substitute Yarn Weights
Super Bulky (approx. 14-20 yds / oz) OR 2 strands Heavy Worsted OR 3 strands Worsted OR 4 strands DK wt.

* Halcyon Yarn Botanica, 100% wool, worsted-spun, 160 yds / 4 oz hank: 1 hank #15 ice blue or #49 oatmeal (MC), 2 hanks #14 periwinkle or #21 coral pink (CC1) and 1 hank #12 fuchsia or #48 deep olive (CC2)
Note: I had just a few yds MC rem, so DO get an extra hank of MC to be on the safe side, OR use CC1 and CC2 to
do the toe shaping, to match the peasant heel shaping.

- US size 9 (5.5 mm) dpns, set of 4
- Tapestry needle
- Waste yarn, 2.5 - 3 yds
Gauges
15 sts and 18 rows = 4” ( 10 cm) over Leg pattern with size 10 ndls, and 16 sts and 19 rows = 4” over Sole and Instep patterns with size 9 ndls, or sizes to give gauges.
