---- “SIMPLE FLORAL CIRCLE” Hexagon ----
This is a very simple hexagon pattern with a cute circular, floral accent. ~
• Written in US terms.
• Pattern calls for worsted weight yarn and a size J hook. (A size K hook can be used, if preferred.)
• For SAMPLES pictured: Scraps of Caron Blossom Cakes in
various colorways were used for the POPCORN FLOWERS.
Scraps of complimentary “ACCENT” colors were used for the
CIRCLES. A light colored yarn from my stash was used for the
rest of the hexagon.
• Hexagons require approx. 28 yds of yarn total.
(8 yds for the POPCORN FLOWER, 4 yds for the “ACCENT CIRCLE & 16 yds for the rest)
• Hexagons measure approx. 6” across and 7” from point to point.
• Any weight of yarn can be used along with a suitably sized hook.
(Size will of course depend on yarn weight and hook size used.)
STITCHES USED: CH, DC.
“MINI” POPCORN STITCH: Instructions given in pattern.
NOTES on how I constructed my “Simple Floral Circle” Hexagon blanket: It has 18 WHOLE HEXAGONS, 4 HALF-HEXAGONS, 6 TOP and BOTTOM FILLER pieces and 4 CORNER FILLER pieces. (Hexagons and HALF Hexagons were laid out as 4 x 5) I used all of the options given in the pattern, (Solid Colored and Accent Colored) to go with the Floral Circle Hexagons. I joined all of the pieces with a j-a-y-g tight join. For the border I went around with 3 rounds of Moss Stitch using the same color as the rounds that formed the hexagons + 3 more rounds using a couple of accent colors (The blue from the Caron Blossom Cakes + the ACCENT color.) I then did 1 more row of Moss Stitch in the main color, upon which I then added my “Modified Rick Rack Border”. It’s a sample blanket and measures approx. 32” x 40” with the border.
“MODIFIED RICK RACK” BORDER: (SS into CHAIN 1 SPACE. SS into SC.) 2 times. SS into next CHAIN 1 SPACE. DC into SAME CHAIN 1 SPACE. SS into SAME CHAIN 1 SPACE.* Work from from * to * all around, making 2 SS, TR, 2 SS in CORNER SPACES.
