Worked flat and featuring a nearly invisible join, this little wrist bag, made with slip stitch ribbing, will cuddle your yarn cake and keep it safely at hand when you’re crocheting, either in public or at home. The fabric is remarkably stretchy and will accommodate a yarn cake from 50 to 100 grams in weight. To prevent tangling when working “two at a time”, just thread the center pull end through the hole in the bottom of the bag and pull the outside end from the top.

Whether it’s hanging from your wrist or buttoned around the arm of your chair, this bag will ensure that your yarn cake never rolls away again.

Unlike the slip stitches used to join a round or get from one point to another without adding height, slip stitch fabric is worked loosely, with little or no tension on the yarn and using a larger than usual hook. The hdc sections are worked with a smaller hook to maintain the drape of the fabric. Two hooks are required for this pattern!

Yarn: 18-20 grams of any “bouncy” sock yarn, such as Austermann Step (459 yards/420 meters per 100 grams). Note: Due to the nature of slip stitch ribbing, plant based fibers may not work as well simply because they don’t rebound as strongly as wool, wool blends, and acrylics.

Hooks: F/5/3.75mm hook, I/9/5.5mm hook

Notions: Tapestry needle, 1 button approx. 3/4 inch across, sewing needle, thread (optional)

Gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows = 3 inches in Bss ribbing. Gauge is not critical, but will determine finished size.
