Do you want to try mosaic knitting, but aren’t ready to jump into a large project like a shawl? This bracelet will help you practice your mosaic knitting technique. Mosaic knitting uses just one color at a time and a combination of knit and slip stitches to create fun colorwork. Give it a try!
Size
Fits a wrist between 5 3/4” (14.6 cm) and 6 1/2” (16.5 cm). Instructions are included to modify for a larger/smaller wrist.
Measurements
Length: 8.25” (20.9 cm)
Width: 1.75” (4.5 cm)
Yarn:
Approximately 9 yds (8.2 m) or 0.07 oz (2 g) each of two high contrast fingering weight yarn. Choose solid or mostly solid colored yarn that has good stitch definition and select yarn that has enough contrast to allow the colorwork to stand out.
The sample used: Mary Ann by Wonderland Yarns (85% Fine Merino Wool, 15% Nylon; 475 yds 434 m, 4 oz 114 g, Fingering Weight)
- MC (Light Grey): Goats Beard
- CC (Dark Grey): Mice in the Tea #15
Needles:
US6 (4.0 mm) and US7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge at least 40” (102 cm) long
Notions:
Tapestry needle, one 0.75” (1.9 cm) button
Gauge:
9 sts / 17.5 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Pattern after a light blocking
Because this project is so small, I recommend to just start working the cuff instead of swatching -- if you don’t achieve gauge, it is easy to start over. Exact gauge is not critical in this pattern as the bracelet is stretchy and you can add/remove a colorwork repeat to help the bracelet fit better.
Techniques Required:
Standard increases/decreases, creating a buttonhole, mosaic knitting
Additional Notes:
Pattern is written out, but the colorwork sections are only charted. Pattern has been professionally tech edited by knit3together.
