This crochet pattern is for a beautiful Hedwig Snowy Owl. You may know him from the Harry Potter films. An original pattern by Fat Lady Crochet.
This easy crochet pattern is written in US terms and is designed for crocheters with a solid understanding of simple crochet, and who don’t mind a little bit of sewing. Lots of photos are included to help you along the way.
Materials
• Approximately 200 grams Baby Velvet (size 4 velvet) yarn in White
• Approximately 200 grams worsted weight (size 4) yarn in White
• Scrap amounts of size 4 (worsted weight) yarn in Black, Yellow, Grey
• Size 6.00 mm J hook, size 4.00 mm G hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Fiber Fill
• Stitch marker
Notes
• Hedwig’s Body/Head is worked in one piece, using 1 strand Baby Velvet and 1 strand Worsted Weight yarn held together.
• Hedwig’s Wings and Tail are worked using 1 strand Baby Velvet and 1 strand Worsted weight yarn held together.
• Hedwig’s Eyes are worked using 1 strand of yarn and smaller hook.
• Hedwig is worked in continuous rounds from the bottom up; do not join unless instructed to do so. Place marker in first st of round and move as work progresses.
• Hedwig’s Eyes, Wings and Tail are worked separately and then sewn on.
• Stuff firmly, but not so the stuffing shows through the stitches.
• Hedwig is roughly 9 inches tall.
• A magic ring may be used to begin each piece if preferred.
