….are you ready for a good party?

SSP is worked flat (sideways), increasing along one edge to create an asymmetrical triangle. Stitches are increased in the slip stitch pattern and then onward into the 1x1 ribbing. A built-in slip stitch edge and the slip stitch colorwork (you only work with one color on any given row) will be the perfect introduction into colorwork (promise - you will have nothing but fun!). The combination of easy slip stitch patterns and the sportive wide ribbing give this shawl a sophisticated yet casual look.

The pattern includes additional instructions for a slightly different version (two colors only, larger size)

Needles
US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle, 40” (100 cm) long, or size needed to get gauge
needle size is a recommendation only, please make a gauge swatch to determine the size needed to get gauge

Gauge (after blocking)
Stockinette stitch: 22 sts x 30 rows = 4” (10 cm)
Slip stitch pattern 1: 22 sts x 31 rows = 4” (10 cm)
Slip stitch pattern 2: 22 sts x 35 rows = 4” (10 cm)
Slip stitch pattern 3: 22 sts x 48 rows = 4” (10 cm)
To swatch the different pattern stitches it is recommended to cast on 26 sts and work at least 4 repeats of slip stitch pattern 1 and 8 repeats each of slip stitch pattern 2 & 3.

Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect yardage and final size when different.

Finished measurements
Approximately 77.5” (197 cm) wingspan, 57.75” (146.5 cm) long and 47.25” (120 cm) wide.

modified version:
Approximately 91.25” (232 cm) wingspan, 72.75” (185 cm) long and 58.25” (148 cm) wide.
